Kathmandu, August 13, 2024 – Conservation Nepal has announced the launch of its new "Green Schools" program, an initiative designed to foster environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students across Nepal. The program aims to integrate environmental education into school curriculums, empowering the next generation to become stewards of the country's natural resources.

The "Green Schools" program will initially be rolled out in 50 schools across the Kathmandu Valley, with plans to expand nationwide in the coming years. It focuses on hands-on learning experiences, such as school gardens, waste management projects, and biodiversity studies. By engaging students in real-world environmental challenges, the program seeks to cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation for Nepal's rich natural heritage.

Dr. Nabin Thapa, the Program Director at Conservation Nepal, highlighted the importance of early education in creating a sustainable future. "Educating young minds about the environment is crucial for the long-term conservation of our natural resources. Through the 'Green Schools' program, we hope to inspire students to take active roles in protecting and preserving our environment," said Dr. Thapa.
